Clancy Memorial Funeral HomeErnestine (Ann) Coon, beloved mother, sister and grandmother, entered into eternal rest surrounded by her family on August 23, 2017 after a courageous battle against cancer. Ann was born on April 20, 1947 in Hohenwart, Germany. At 18 years of age she traveled to America and permanently resided in Branford, CT. During her life she had many different careers, from working at Winchester Firearms, to Pitney Bowes and, finally, was employed as a housekeeper for several wonderful families.She is survived by her children, Tanya and Jonathon Ziegler of Hamden, Neil and Elizabeth Coon of Guilford, and Thomas (BPD) and Dawn Coon of East Haven; her four grandchildren who were the lights of her life, Austin Ziegler, Eli Coon, Brayden Coon and Madison Coon; her brothers, John (Inge) Luckner and Panos (Julia) Salamanos, along with her niece, Iris Luckner of Germany. She was predeceased by her parents, Hans Werner Luckner and Ida Herta Luckner of Hohenwart, Germany. Ann was a very caring and generous person who was always helping others. She loved her children very much and worked hard as a single mother throughout her life to provide the best for them. When her first grandchild was born her life was changed in an amazing way as she became a Grandmother. Ann deeply loved and cherished all four of her grandchildren. She will forever hold the title of Goosemama, Grammy and Gege. In addition to her family, Ann loved watching the New England Patriots and the New York Yankees. She also greatly enjoyed bingo and going to the casino. In life, Ann was blessed with many amazing friends who were by her side through the laughter and the hard times. The friendship that Fran, Harry, Kathy, Sue and Anne shared with Ann will never be forgotten. The family would also like to thank the caregivers at Connecticut Hospice and Cancare Support for the wonderful care and support that they provided during this difficult time.Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Ann’s life on Sunday September 10, 2017 at 3:45 PM at the W. ...
